Game Information: Minecraft Pocket Edition (2011)
Minecraft Pocket Edition was a version of Minecraft created for mobile devices, such as iOS and Android. It is vastly different from the Java Edition, as it incorporated touch controls, as well as other gameplay functions designed for a touch screen. Most of the features, interface, and menu elements of Pocket Edition would go on to be used in the later Bedrock Editions of Minecraft.
Minecraft Pocket Edition was first released in August of 2011 as an exclusive to Sony Ericsson's Xperia Play devices, and later released for all Android devices in October of 2011, with an iOS release coming soon after in November. There was even a version of Pocket Edition designed for the Raspberry Pi, but that's a topic for another day.
Today, Minecraft Pocket Edition is called "Minecraft" after the Better Together update, which was released in September of 2017. The versions that include cross-platform compatibility (and let's not forget microtransactions) are known as the "Bedrock Edition", while the original PC version is now called the "Java Edition". Multiplayer servers and worlds created on either Java or Bedrock editions are not compatible with one another, due to coding differences.
Oh, and totally off-topic: The Flamin' Hot Cheetos was a running gag used in this episode. We won't tell you the outcome, so go watch it to find out what happens. 😉
